From the President's desk...
Brothers and Recruits,
Welcome back to TCU, I hope that you all had a wonderful summer. With the start of the semester comes our most exciting and busy time of the year. In the coming weeks, we will begin the Recruitment process for the fall semester. I want to invite all of you come out and experience what our organization has to offer. We will be hosting a variety of events that will allow you to get to know the members of our organization as well as further your professional development.
The first week of Recruitment will be focused on showcasing our organization and the outstanding members that comprise it. There will be informal information sessions, a social outing, and a professional speaker. The second week will focus on the selection of the new members through an interview process. For those that participate, this will be a great opportunity to sharpen interview skills and practice for future job interviews.
As I mentioned before, we have an outstanding active membership. For example, during the Spring ’06 semester the presidents of three other Neeley School organizations were also members of Delta Sigma Pi. Several members are also Neeley Associates. Delta Sigma Pi is the premier organization within the business school, and as such is comprised of the top tier of students. Currently our chapter has 61 active members that come from all majors within the business school. I have found that there is at least one other member of Delta Sigma Pi in each of my business classes.
Through out the year our organization hosts several events. There will typically be four community service events and three professional events each semester. Some of the community service events included a blood drive and collection of supplies to send to troops in Iraq. The professional events were highlighted by the CFO of the Texas Rangers coming to speak, as well as several workshops focused on interview techniques, resume skills, and business etiquette.
Our organization also provides the members several opportunities to get to know each other outside the classroom in a relaxed setting. After each meeting, the members meet a predetermined restaurant to socialize. During the football season the organization will hold a tailgate before the games.
Delta Sigma Pi has a lot to offer each and every student in the Neeley School. Please do not pass up this opportunity to make life long connections. Our organization will provide you with countless ways to grow not only professionally, but personally as well.
I look forward to getting the opportunity to showcase our wonderful organization you all,
David Towe
President, Delta Sigma Pi
